Hearst Castle 2003

We spent Spring Break 2003 travelling down the coast of California. We visited the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Pebble Beach, and drove down to see Hearst Castle. It was a really nice drive. Here are some pictures:

Monterey was really neat and we came on a really nice day

Melina was fascinated with all of the touchy stuff

There were a lot of fish in here, but the best part was when the wave came crashing in.

It was storming on the way to Monterey, but when we got here it was nice and sunny.

They said there are really clams this big in the ocean.

We didn't know Dad was taking pictures. Can you see all of us on the bottom picture?

The trees you see are called Cypress Trees. The grey things are called Rocks. The boy next to me is called Goofy.

Melina was sleeping when we had someone take this picture. Dad said the guy taking the picture lacked knowledge of appropriate framing and also artistic skill (he was supposed to get the lone cypress on the right in the picture).

Hearst Castle ended up being just a really big house. We enjoyed the drive and the smelly seals much better.

Did I mention the smelly seals?

The morning after visiting the castle, we strolled on the beach for a while. It was a beautiful day, and Melina was having fun.

Here we all are on the beach. The beach didn't really have sand, it was all rocks like these.

This is the Lone Cypress. I don't get it though, since there's another Cypress next to it. How can it be lonely?

This picture is somewhere between Monterey and Hearst Castle. It was a really nice drive.

The jellyfish at the aquarium were really cool. They seemed to be dancing. (That's me on the right)

Melina likes water a lot. She looks natural on the beach, and she had a lot of fun.
